Description

The Funk Wide is a 36cm metal pendant light with a flared, conical shade in matt white and a beaten gold interior. A single E27 lamp holder sits at the apex of the shade, suspended on a 150cm white cable from a matching white ceiling cap. The shade is 17cm tall, giving it a low, wide profile that sits closer to the horizontal than a standard dome pendant.

The wide aperture and reflective gold lining throw light downwards in a broad pool, which makes the Funk Wide well suited to use over kitchen islands, dining tables and breakfast bars where directed task light is wanted on the surface below. Hung in a row of two or three at 600-800mm centres, the pendants light a longer island or table evenly. The 150cm cable can be shortened on installation to suit ceiling heights from around 2.4m upwards.

The shade is pressed metal with a smooth matt white powder-coated exterior and a polished, hammered gold interior finish that picks up filament bulb light and reflects it as a warm amber glow. The contrast between the cool matt white outside and the warm gold inside is the defining feature of the design, and the effect is strongest with a clear E27 GLS filament bulb (sold separately) where the filament is visible through the wide opening.

The pendant takes any standard E27 bulb. A vintage-style squirrel cage or globe filament bulb suits the modern-industrial styling; an E27 LED filament in 2700K gives the same look with lower running costs. The fitting carries a 2 year warranty.
