The Knightsbridge dual voltage shaver socket provides both 115V and 230V outputs at 20VA, accommodating UK and international shavers and electric toothbrushes behind a polished brass screwless faceplate with a black insert. The IP41 rating confirms protection against solid objects over 1mm and vertically dripping water, making it suitable for bathroom installation in zones 2 and 3.

Designed for residential bathrooms, hotel ensuites and washrooms where users may carry devices from different voltage regions, the socket switches automatically between 115V and 230V depending on the device plugged in. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, eliminating visible screw fixings on the wall once installed. A 47mm minimum back box depth is required, and the socket requires an earth connection under Class I wiring.

The polished brass finish provides a warm metallic accent that pairs well with traditional bathroom fittings, brass taps and warm-toned tiles. The black insert behind the brass faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to the outlet aperture. What's the difference between 115V and 230V output?

The socket automatically switches between 115V and 230V depending on the device plugged in. UK shavers typically run on 230V, while some international shavers and older models use 115V. The 20VA rating limits the maximum power draw, making the socket suitable for shavers and electric toothbrushes but not for hairdryers or other high-power appliances.

Can this be installed in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP41 rating confirms protection against moisture and the socket is designed for bathroom installation in zones 2 and 3. It must not be installed in zone 0 or zone 1 (inside the bath or shower enclosure, or directly above the bath to a height of 2.25m).

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 4mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for tiling or painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring.
