The clear beveled glass gives direct, unobstructed light from the single E27 bulb (sold separately, 60W max), making it suitable for functional entrance lighting rather than just decorative accent. The 243mm projection from the wall gives clearance for downward throw without the lantern sitting too proud of the facade.

The black oxide finish on the aluminium frame is a cooler-toned near-black that sits between matt black and charcoal, while the burnished bronze handle carries warm undertones. The Dawson is rated IP44, meaning it is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashing from any direction. This makes it suitable for covered porches, front doors, and exterior walls under eaves or soffits. It is not rated for full exposure to driving rain without some overhead cover.

What bulb does it take?

The lantern takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 6-10W and 2700K for traditional entrance lighting.

Can it be mounted upside down or horizontally?

The Dawson is designed to be wall-mounted vertically with the handle at the top. Mounting it upside down or horizontally would compromise the IP44 rating and alter the intended light distribution from the tapered frame.

What's the difference between black oxide and matt black?

Black oxide is a cooler-toned near-black finish with a subtle metallic sheen, sitting between matt black and charcoal. Matt black is a flat, non-reflective pure black.
