Description

This COB LED strip lights up as one continuous, dot-free line of diodes on a flexible reel, with no visible hotspots along its length. Often sold in the US as led tape light, it carries full RGB colour, draws up to 15W per metre and comes on a 5 metre reel. The strip runs on 24V DC rather than straight from the mains, so it needs a matching LED driver, which is specified separately. The reel cuts to length at the marked points every 3.1 cm, letting you size each run to the space it is going into.

Its smooth, even line of light suits cove and ceiling perimeters, under-cabinet runs, shelving, stair edges and outline detailing where a string of separate dots would look broken up. Because it is RGB, the colour can be set to suit the setting rather than fixed to one tone, which makes it a flexible choice for accent and feature lighting. Rather than acting as the main ambient source for a room, it works best grazing a surface or tracing an edge, so think of its output as a decorative wash and outline rather than coverage measured in m². The flexible base bends around corners and into channels for clean concealed runs.

The strip is rated IP65, so it is coated against moisture and dust and copes with exposed outdoor and wet locations as well as damp interiors such as bathrooms and kitchens. It is built around 24V DC operation and must be paired with a correctly sized LED driver, with the strip cut only at the printed cut points. Rated for around 30,000 hours and weighing roughly 150 g per reel, it installs into aluminium profile or sits behind a lip for a hidden source. Compatible drivers and profiles are available across our LED strip range.

Does this strip need a separate driver?

Yes. It runs on 24V DC, not mains voltage, so it must be paired with a matching 24V LED driver sized to the total wattage of your run. The driver is supplied separately, and using the correct voltage is essential to avoid damaging the strip.

Can the strip be cut to length, and where?

Yes. The reel can be shortened at the marked cut points spaced every 3.1 cm along its length. Always cut on the printed line so the circuit stays intact, and never cut between the marked intervals.

Is it suitable for outdoor or damp use?

Yes. The strip is rated IP65, so it is sealed against dust and water and can be used in exposed outdoor and wet locations as well as bathrooms and kitchens. Make sure any joins and the driver connection are protected to the same standard.

How do I control the RGB colour?

The strip carries full RGB, so the colour can be changed across the spectrum using a compatible RGB controller. This lets you set a fixed accent colour or run dynamic effects, depending on the controller you pair it with.
