Description

This COB LED strip lays down a continuous, dot-free line of light along a flexible 5m reel, drawing up to 14W per metre at full output. Known in the US market as COB tape light or light strip, it carries closely packed diodes rather than the spaced points of an older SMD strip, so the run reads as one smooth band with no visible hotspots. The strip is tuneable white across 2700K to 6500K, shifting from a warm, relaxed tone to a crisp daylight feel, and renders colour faithfully at Ra90.

Indoor under-cabinet runs, kitchen plinths, shelf edges, cove and coffer details and display joinery all suit this strip, where the even line and high CRI of Ra90 keep surfaces and stock looking true. Because the diodes sit in a dot-free row, the light grazes cleanly along worktops and joinery edges without the dotted shadowing a spaced strip can throw. The strip is cuttable every 2.6cm at the marked points, so a length can be trimmed to fit a specific shelf, alcove or cabinet run rather than left to overhang.

The strip runs on 24V DC and is not a mains-direct fitting, so it needs a matching 24V LED driver, which is supplied separately and should be sized to the total wattage of the run. Rated IP00, it is for dry indoor use only and should be kept clear of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor position. The flexible backing bends around corners and along curved profiles, and each reel is rated to around 30,000 hours. The COB LED Strip range also includes single colour-temperature versions if a fixed warm or cool tone is preferred.

Does this strip need a separate driver?

Yes. It runs on 24V DC, not mains voltage, so it needs a matching 24V LED driver, which is sold separately. Size the driver to the total wattage of your run, allowing for up to 14W per metre at full output.

Can the strip be cut to length?

Yes. It can be cut every 2.6cm at the marked cut points along the reel. Always cut on the marks so each section stays complete and able to light, then connect or terminate the cut end as needed.

Can I use this strip outdoors or in a bathroom?

No. This version is rated IP00, which means dry indoor use only. Keep it clear of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor or sheltered-outdoor position, where a coated IP65 strip would be needed instead.

How do I change the colour temperature?

The strip is tuneable white from 2700K to 6500K, adjusted through a compatible tuneable-white driver or controller. This lets you set a warm, relaxed tone for living areas or a crisp daylight feel for task and display lighting from the same run.
