Description

This COB LED strip puts a continuous, dot-free line of red light across a flexible reel, with none of the visible spotting you get from spaced diodes. It draws 10.5W per metre and gives around 190 lumens per metre, running from a 24V DC supply rather than straight off the mains. In US terms these are usually sold as COB LED tape, and the single continuous emitter is what gives the smooth, even line whether it is mounted straight or curved around a corner. Each reel measures 5m and cuts cleanly to length at the marked points every 5cm, so you trim it to fit the run you have.

The red output suits accent and outline work rather than general room lighting, so coverage is best judged by the line it traces rather than any floor area. It is well suited to cove and coffer outlines, under-cabinet edges, signage, bar fronts, stair and skirting runs, and exterior eaves or pergola edges where a defined coloured line is wanted. Because it is coated to IP65 it copes with damp and sheltered outdoor positions as well as wet indoor zones, so the same reel works on a kitchen plinth or a covered patio. Plan the layout so the cut falls at a marked 5cm interval and the driver sits at one end of the run.

The strip is built on a flexible carrier with an IP65 weatherproof coating, giving a rated life of around 30,000 hours. It is a 24V DC product, so it needs a matching 24V LED driver, which is sold separately and sized to the total wattage of the run you install. Self-adhesive backing holds it to clean, dry surfaces, and it should be joined or cut only at the marked points. We stock matching drivers and connectors alongside this range to complete a single or multi-section install.

Does this strip need a separate driver?

Yes. It runs on 24V DC, not mains voltage, so it needs a matching 24V LED driver, which is sold separately. Size the driver to the total wattage of your run, allowing 10.5W for every metre installed plus a little headroom.

Where can the strip be cut?

It can be cut to length at the marked cut points, which fall every 5cm along the reel. Always cut on a marked line so the circuit stays intact, and keep the offcut for a shorter second run if needed.

Can it be used outdoors?

Yes. It is coated to IP65, so it is weatherproof and suited to exposed outdoor positions, damp areas and wet indoor zones such as under kitchen plinths or around covered patios and eaves. The driver itself should be housed in a dry, protected location.

How do I keep it clean?

Wipe the strip with a soft, slightly damp cloth and let it dry before switching back on. The IP65 coating resists dust and moisture, but avoid harsh solvents or abrasive pads that could mark the surface over time.
