Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker switch provides double-pole isolation for electric cookers, ranges and hobs rated up to 10,350W on 230V mains. The switch cuts both live and neutral lines when turned off, ensuring the appliance cannot be accidentally energised during maintenance or cleaning. A red neon indicator on the faceplate shows when the circuit is live.

Designed for residential kitchens where a dedicated cooker circuit requires accessible isolation, the switch fits a standard 2-gang mounting box with 47mm minimum depth. The switch is surface-mounted and requires no additional cover plate — the antique brass faceplate is the visible finish. The double-pole rating makes this suitable for both single large cookers and multiple smaller cooking appliances on the same circuit, provided the combined load stays within the 45A limit.

The antique brass finish is a warm, slightly darkened brass tone with a brushed texture that softens reflections and ages gracefully in high-use kitchen environments. The faceplate is premium-grade steel with an applied brass coating, giving durability under frequent switching. The neon indicator draws minimal current and provides visual confirmation that the circuit is energised without needing to test at the appliance itself.

Frequently Asked

What is double-pole switching?

Double-pole switching cuts both the live and neutral lines when the switch is off, fully isolating the appliance from the mains. This provides greater safety during maintenance than single-pole switching, which only cuts the live line.

What does the neon indicator show?

The red neon illuminates when the circuit is live and energised. When the switch is turned off, the neon goes dark, confirming the appliance is isolated. The neon draws minimal current and does not require a separate neutral connection.

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum mounting box depth is needed. The switch fits a standard 2-gang box. The faceplate projects 10.5mm from the wall once fitted.

Can this control multiple appliances?

Yes, provided the combined load of all appliances on the circuit does not exceed 45A (10,350W at 230V). This is common in kitchens with separate oven and hob units wired to a single cooker circuit.
