Description
This Knightsbridge 32A appliance inlet is a fixed wall-mount plug rated IP44 for outdoor and indoor use in harsh environments. The inlet accepts a standard 240V 32A industrial plug, providing a permanent connection point for generators, workshop equipment, caravans, mobile catering units and commercial appliances drawing up to 7,680W on single-phase supply.
Designed for workshops, commercial kitchens, event catering trailers, caravan pitches and generator hookup points, the inlet provides a weatherproof connection that eliminates the need for trailing extension cables or temporary connections. The IP44 rating protects against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making the inlet suitable for sheltered outdoor locations such as under canopies, in covered workshops or on the external walls of buildings where the inlet is not subject to direct rain or submersion.
The blue and white housing follows IEC 60309 colour coding for 240V single-phase industrial connections, ensuring compatibility with standard blue 32A plugs and preventing accidental connection to incompatible voltage systems. The white base mounts to a wall or panel using two fixing holes spaced 60mm apart, with the blue plug face angled to allow easy cable insertion and withdrawal. The earth terminal ensures a continuous protective earth connection for all connected equipment.

Frequently Asked
What does the IP44 rating mean?
IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The inlet is suitable for sheltered outdoor use such as under canopies or on external walls, but should not be installed where it is subject to direct rain, submersion or high-pressure water jets.
What appliances can be connected?
Any 240V single-phase appliance drawing up to 32A (7,680W) and fitted with a compatible blue industrial plug. Common uses include portable generators, workshop machinery, caravan hookups, mobile catering equipment and commercial appliances.
How is it installed?
The white base mounts to a wall or panel using two fixing holes spaced 60mm apart. The inlet must be wired by a qualified electrician to a suitable 32A supply circuit with appropriate overcurrent protection and earth bonding.
Is the blue colour significant?
Yes. Blue indicates 240V single-phase under IEC 60309 industrial plug standards, preventing accidental connection to incompatible voltage systems such as 110V (yellow) or three-phase supplies (red).
