Description

The Knightsbridge 20A flex outlet plate is a single-gang brushed chrome faceplate designed for fixed appliance wiring where the cable exits the wall directly into the appliance rather than terminating at a plug. The outlet accepts flexible cables up to 10mm in diameter and includes an integrated strain-relief clamp to prevent cable pull from transferring load to the terminal connections.

Designed for central heating boilers, electric towel rails, extractor fans, and kitchen white goods that require permanent wiring, the 20A rating handles continuous loads up to 4,600W on 230V mains. The flat plate design projects just 2.5mm from the wall once fitted to a 25mm back box, making it suitable for installations where clearance behind furniture or appliances is tight. The brushed chrome finish pairs with both contemporary and traditional kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms.

The faceplate is constructed from 201 stainless steel with a directional brushed finish that softens reflections and resists fingerprints better than polished chrome. The terminal block accepts three conductors at 2.5mm² or two at 4.0mm² (using twin earth terminals), which covers most domestic fixed-appliance wiring configurations. The plate is IP20 rated for dry indoor use and carries a 25-year manufacturer guarantee.

Frequently Asked

What appliances is this suitable for?

The 20A rating suits central heating boilers, electric towel rails, extractor fans, and fixed kitchen appliances like ovens or hobs where the cable exits the wall directly into the appliance. It is not intended for plug-in appliances — those require a standard 13A socket.

What cable diameter can it accept?

The outlet accepts flexible cables up to 10mm in diameter. The terminal block itself accepts three conductors at 2.5mm² or two at 4.0mm² when using the twin earth terminals.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The faceplate projects just 2.5mm from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth of 21.53mm when installed.

Does the strain relief need to be used?

Yes. The integrated strain relief clamp prevents cable pull from transferring load to the terminal connections, which is a safety requirement for flex outlet installations. The clamp must be tightened onto the cable outer sheath during installation.
