Description
The Knightsbridge GDM150IAB is a 2-way intelligent dimmer module with an antique brass rotary knob and rectangular faceplate, designed for grid wiring systems including Screwless, Flat Plate, Raised Edge and Metal Clad ranges. The dimmer automatically detects whether the connected load requires leading edge or trailing edge phase control, removing the need for manual switching between modes.
The module handles 10-150W loads for incandescent, mains voltage halogen and low-voltage halogen lamps paired with electronic transformers, or 5-150W for dimmable LED lamps. The push-to-switch, rotate-to-dim control provides one-handed operation, with built-in overload protection, over-temperature shutdown and an inrush current limiter to prevent damage from the initial power spike when multiple lamps switch on simultaneously. Knightsbridge recommends a maximum of 10-12 lamps per dimmer to stay within safe inrush current limits.
The antique brass finish provides a warm, aged metallic tone with darker patina in the recesses of the brushed surface, suited to traditional, heritage and warm contemporary interiors. The module fits a standard 35mm minimum back box depth and clips into Knightsbridge grid frames, allowing multiple modules to be combined in a single faceplate. The 2-way wiring capability means the dimmer can be used in circuits controlled from two locations, such as at either end of a hallway or from a landing and ground floor.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between leading edge and trailing edge dimming?
Leading edge cuts the start of each AC waveform and suits traditional incandescent and halogen lamps. Trailing edge cuts the end of the waveform and suits electronic loads like dimmable LEDs and low-voltage transformers. This dimmer auto-detects which mode is needed when the circuit is powered on, so no manual switching is required.
How many LED lamps can be connected?
The dimmer handles up to 150W total load for LEDs. Knightsbridge recommends a maximum of 10-12 individual lamps per dimmer to avoid inrush current issues when the circuit switches on, as each lamp draws a brief current spike that can exceed its rated wattage.
What grid systems is it compatible with?
The module fits all Knightsbridge grid wiring systems: Screwless, Flat Plate, Raised Edge and Metal Clad. It clips into the grid frame and can be combined with other grid modules (switches, sockets, data outlets) in a multi-gang faceplate.
Can it be used in a 2-way lighting circuit?
Yes. The dimmer supports 2-way wiring, allowing the same lights to be dimmed from two locations such as either end of a corridor or from upstairs and downstairs positions.
