Description

The Knightsbridge 16A panel mount socket operates at 110V with a 2-pole + earth configuration, housed in a high-visibility yellow impact-resistant polycarbonate body. The angled panel mount design positions the outlet at 45° to the mounting surface, directing cable runs downward or to the side for easier management in temporary power installations. The IP44 rating protects the socket against solid objects over 1mm and water splashed from any direction.

Designed for construction sites, workshops, outdoor events and industrial environments where 110V site power is standard, the socket fits into electrical distribution boards, site transformers and temporary power boxes. The angled orientation keeps cables clear of work areas and reduces strain on the plug connection when cables are pulled or knocked. The 16A rating handles power tools, site lighting and small equipment within the 1,760W maximum load at 110V.

The yellow polycarbonate body is a high-visibility colour code for 110V installations, making it immediately distinguishable from 230V mains sockets on mixed-voltage sites. The recessed depth of 36mm allows the socket to sit inside a panel cut-out with the body mostly behind the surface, while the 70mm x 62mm faceplate secures to the panel using four fixing holes. The earth terminal provides a direct chassis ground connection, meeting BS EN 60309-2 requirements for industrial connectors.

What is the IP44 rating suitable for?

IP44 protects the socket against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashed from any direction. This makes it suitable for outdoor use under cover, semi-exposed workshops and construction sites where the socket may encounter rain splash but not direct water jets or submersion.

Yellow is the international colour code for 110V industrial sockets under BS EN 60309-2. This prevents accidental connection of 230V equipment to 110V supplies, or vice versa, on sites where both voltages are present.

What panel thickness does it fit?

The socket has a 36mm recessed depth behind the faceplate. It fits panels from 1mm to approximately 5mm thick. Thicker panels may require a spacer or additional sealing gasket to maintain the IP44 rating.

Is it compatible with BS EN 60309-2 plugs?

Yes. The socket accepts standard BS EN 60309-2 16A 110V 2-pole + earth industrial plugs with the yellow colour code and 6-hour keyway orientation.
