Description
The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur unit combines a fuse holder, rocker switch, neon indicator and flex outlet behind a brushed chrome flat plate with an ultra-low 2.5mm projection from the wall. The unit is designed to provide fused isolation for fixed appliances such as boilers, extractor fans, wall-mounted ovens and immersion heaters, with the flex outlet allowing hardwired appliances to be disconnected without rewiring.
Fitted to kitchens, utility rooms, bathrooms and commercial settings where a fixed appliance needs switchable fused protection, the unit requires a standard 25mm minimum back box depth. The neon indicator glows red when the switch is in the 'on' position, providing visual confirmation of power status from across the room. The rocker switch controls both live and neutral lines, isolating the appliance completely when switched off.
The premium-grade steel construction and brushed chrome finish provide a durable surface that resists fingerprints and minor scratches better than polished finishes. The flat plate design sits flush with the wall surface, with only a 2.5mm projection, making it suitable for installations where protruding switches would be impractical. The unit is certified to BS 1363-4 and carries a 25-year warranty, covering manufacturing defects over the product's working life.

Frequently Asked
What appliances is this fused spur suitable for?
The 13A rating makes it suitable for fixed appliances drawing up to 3,000W, including boilers, extractor fans, wall-mounted ovens, immersion heaters, towel rails and commercial catering equipment. The flex outlet allows hardwired appliances to be disconnected for maintenance without isolating the circuit at the consumer unit.
What does the neon indicator show?
The neon glows red when the switch is in the 'on' position, confirming that power is being supplied to the appliance. When the switch is off, the neon goes dark, providing visual confirmation that the circuit is isolated.
Can this be used in bathrooms?
The IP20 rating means this unit is not splash-proof and should not be installed within bathroom zones where water contact is possible. For bathroom extractor fans or electric towel rails, install the fused spur outside the bathroom or in a location beyond the defined zones per BS 7671 wiring regulations.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The flat plate adds 2.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a total installed depth of 27.5mm from the finished wall surface.
