Description

The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur unit adds a switched fused connection point with a neon indicator behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate. The neon illuminates when the circuit is live, providing immediate visual confirmation of power status without needing to test with a meter. The switched rocker isolates the downstream appliance or circuit when turned off.

Designed for permanent appliance connections in residential and light commercial installations, fused spur units are commonly used to connect fixed appliances like extractor fans, boilers, bathroom heaters and underfloor heating controllers. The 13A rating handles loads up to 3,120W on a 230V circuit. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible screws or fixings once installed.

The brushed chrome finish on premium-grade steel provides a directional grain texture that softens reflections and pairs well with stainless steel appliances, chrome taps and contemporary kitchen and bathroom schemes. The matching rocker and fuse holder maintain a unified finish across the faceplate. The unit is certified to BS 1363-4 and carries IP20 ingress protection, suitable for dry indoor locations. Knightsbridge backs this unit with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What does the neon indicator show?

The neon illuminates when the circuit is live, confirming that power is reaching the unit. It provides visual confirmation of circuit status without needing to turn on the connected appliance or test with a meter.

What's the difference between a fused spur and a socket?

A fused spur provides a permanent switched connection for fixed appliances like extractor fans or boilers, whereas a socket accepts a plug for appliances that may be moved or disconnected. Fused spurs typically connect to the appliance via flex wired directly into the terminals.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the unit and re-clipped without re-wiring.
