Description

The Knightsbridge 13A fused spur unit provides a switched connection for fixed appliances such as boilers, extractor fans, bathroom heaters and under-cabinet kitchen lighting. The polished chrome screwless faceplate hides the fixing screws behind a clip-on cover plate, leaving a clean reflective surface on the wall once installed. A matching polished chrome fuse holder sits behind the cover plate for fuse changes without removing the entire unit.

Designed for permanent appliance connections rather than plug-in sockets, the unit is rated at 13A and certified to BS 1363-4. It fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and includes a built-in gasket that sits between the faceplate and the wall, reducing dust ingress behind the plate. The screwless design means the cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, so there are no visible screws or fixings once fitted.

The polished chrome finish provides a mirror-like reflective surface that suits contemporary kitchens, bathrooms and commercial installations where electrical accessories need to match taps, handles and other chrome hardware. The 87.5mm square faceplate projects just 4.3mm from the wall, giving a low-profile finish that sits nearly flush with plasterwork. The Class I construction includes an earth terminal, and the IP20 rating means the unit is suitable for dry indoor locations.

Frequently Asked

What appliances is a fused spur unit used for?

Fused spur units provide a permanent switched connection for fixed appliances such as boilers, extractor fans, bathroom heaters, towel rails, under-cabinet kitchen lighting, and waste disposal units. They replace a plug and socket where the appliance does not need to be disconnected regularly.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Is the screwless plate removable for fuse changes?

Yes. The polished chrome cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed to access the fuse holder without disconnecting any wiring, then re-clipped into place.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the unit is suitable for dry indoor locations. In bathrooms it must be installed outside zones 0, 1 and 2 as defined in BS 7671 wiring regulations, typically at least 600mm from the bath or shower enclosure and not within reach of someone using the bath or shower.
