Description
The Knightsbridge SN9KW is a 13A 2-gang single-pole Wi-Fi socket with app control and voice assistant compatibility, replacing a standard double socket with remote switching, scheduling and power monitoring functionality. The socket connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks and operates through the SmartKnight or Smartlife apps on iOS and Android, with voice control through Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri Shortcuts.
Designed for controlling lamps, cabinet lighting, fans, chargers and entertainment systems in residential and light commercial installations, the socket allows individual switching of each outlet via the app or voice command. Timer schedules can automate devices to switch on or off at set times, and the power monitoring function displays real-time energy consumption per outlet. Standby power consumption is 0.8W, allowing the socket itself to be left powered on without significant vampire draw.
The white thermoset resin faceplate uses a traditional square-edge profile with screw fixings, fitting 25-35mm back boxes depending on wiring conditions. Each outlet is rated at 13A on 230V 50Hz mains, handling loads up to 2,990W per outlet. The integrated neon indicator shows when each outlet is powered. The socket carries IP20 rating for dry indoor use and a 2-year warranty.
This socket cannot be used for EV charging. The single-pole switching isolates the live line only, not the neutral — for applications requiring both live and neutral isolation, a dual-pole (DP) variant is available separately.

Frequently Asked
Which Wi-Fi networks does this socket support?
The socket connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks only. It does not support 5GHz networks. Most home routers broadcast both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands — ensure your phone is connected to the 2.4GHz network during initial setup.
Can I control each outlet independently?
Yes. The SmartKnight and Smartlife apps allow independent switching and scheduling of each outlet. You can also assign different names to each outlet within the app for easier voice control.
Does it require a hub or bridge?
No. The socket connects directly to your Wi-Fi router without requiring a separate hub, bridge or gateway. You need only the free app and a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection.
What back box depth is needed?
A 25mm back box depth is the minimum, but 35mm is recommended where wiring conditions involve thick cables or multiple cable entries. The 9mm projection from the wall is measured from a flush-mounted back box.
Is this suitable for outdoor use?
No. The IP20 rating is for dry indoor use only. For outdoor or bathroom installations, a higher IP-rated socket is required.
