Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 1-gang 2-way toggle switch features a brushed chrome flat plate with an ultra-low 2.5mm profile and a matching metal toggle. The 10AX rating handles lighting loads up to 2,300W on 230V mains, making it suitable for multi-bulb ceiling fittings, chandeliers and high-output LED arrays. The 2-way configuration allows the same light to be controlled from two different switch positions within a room.

Designed for hallways, staircases, through-lounges and bedrooms where two-point control is needed, the switch operates via a traditional toggle mechanism rather than a rocker. The toggle gives tactile feedback and a distinct on/off position, which some users prefer over rocker switches for clarity. The flat plate sits just 2.5mm proud of the wall surface, requiring only a 16mm minimum back box depth, making it compatible with shallow plasterboard back boxes and older installations where cavity depth is limited.

The premium-grade steel construction carries a brushed chrome finish that shows directional grain rather than a mirror polish, reducing fingerprint visibility and pairing well with brushed stainless kitchen appliances, chrome door furniture and contemporary bathroom fittings. The built-in gasket behind the faceplate provides IP20 moisture protection and prevents dust ingress behind the plate. The switch is certified to EN 60669-1 and carries a 25-year warranty from Knightsbridge.

Frequently Asked

What does 2-way mean on a light switch?

A 2-way switch allows the same light to be controlled from two different switch positions within a room, typically used at either end of a hallway, at the top and bottom of a staircase, or at both entrances to a through-lounge. This switch can be paired with another 2-way switch on the same lighting circuit.

What back box depth is required?

The switch requires a minimum 16mm back box depth. The ultra-flat plate projects only 2.5mm from the wall once fitted, making it compatible with shallow plasterboard back boxes and older installations where cavity depth is limited.

What is the difference between a toggle and a rocker switch?

A toggle switch uses a protruding metal lever that flips up or down with a distinct click and visible on/off position. A rocker switch uses a flat plastic or metal panel that tilts at the centre. Toggle switches provide clearer tactile feedback, while rocker switches offer a flatter profile.

What other finishes are available in this range?

Knightsbridge produces the Flat Plate toggle switch range in multiple finishes including polished chrome, black nickel, brushed brass, polished brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
