The Whispering is a 629mm-tall Tiffany-style table lamp built around a 432mm-diameter conical shade of art glass panels featuring natural agate stones set into a branch-and-leaf pattern. The base is cast metal finished in vintage bronze, formed as a sculptural tree trunk with bundled branches supporting the shade from below. Two E27 bulb holders sit under the glass (bulbs sold separately), each pulling light up through the creamy art glass and translucent agate to cast warm amber light.

Designed for traditional and Arts & Crafts interiors, the Whispering suits console tables in hallways, sideboards in dining rooms, and bedside positions where the lamp acts as both ambient light and decorative object. The sculptural base gives the fitting a substantial footprint that anchors it visually on a surface, while the shade diameter provides enough light spread for reading at close range. Each agate stone in the shade is hand-selected and varies in colour from amber through rust-brown to pale cream, meaning no two Whispering lamps look identical when lit. What bulbs does it take?

The Whispering takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 60W each, sold separately. Most users pair it with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W at 2700K to match the amber tone of the art glass and agate. Standard filament bulbs also work but generate more heat.

Does the agate vary between lamps?

Yes. Each agate stone is hand-selected and cut from natural material, so the colour, veining and translucency differ between individual pieces. This variation is a feature of the design and means no two Whispering lamps are identical when lit.

How is the glass constructed?

The shade uses traditional Tiffany copper-foil construction. Each piece of art glass is wrapped in copper tape, then soldered to its neighbours to form a rigid, self-supporting structure. The agate stones are set into the pattern as part of the same assembly process.

Can the two bulbs be controlled independently?

Yes. The Whispering has two pull-chain switches, one for each bulb, allowing independent on/off control. This lets you run one or both bulbs depending on how much light is needed.
