The Knightsbridge NETBTMGY is a 25 x 50mm BT master telephone outlet module with IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) terminals, designed to fit euro-module grid faceplates. The module accepts standard telephone cable and terminates the connection without needing to strip insulation from individual wires, as the IDC connectors cut through the insulation when the cable is pushed into the terminal block.

Intended for residential and light commercial telephone installations, the module fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and occupies one 25mm-wide module space on a euro-module grid plate. The master outlet configuration means this module should be the first telephone point on a line, with extension sockets positioned downstream if needed. The grey ABS finish matches standard grey euro-module faceplates from Knightsbridge's grid range.

The module is certified to BS 5733, the British Standard for general purpose telephone outlets, and carries an IP20 rating for use in dry internal locations only. The 21mm recessed depth allows the module to sit flush within the grid faceplate once installed, giving a neat finished appearance with no protruding components visible from the front.

What is a master outlet versus an extension outlet?

A master outlet is the first telephone point on a line, typically positioned where the incoming line enters the property. Extension outlets are secondary sockets positioned downstream from the master. The master outlet contains a capacitor that allows certain telephone services to function correctly, so it should always be used as the primary connection point.

What does IDC mean?

IDC stands for Insulation Displacement Connector. These terminals cut through the cable insulation when the wire is pushed into the connector block, making contact with the copper conductor inside without needing to strip the insulation manually. This speeds up installation and reduces the risk of incorrect termination.

What euro-module faceplate is needed?

This module occupies one 25mm-wide space on a euro-module grid faceplate. Knightsbridge produces compatible grid plates in various gang sizes (1-6 gang) and finishes. A single-gang 2-module plate would accommodate this telephone module plus one additional 25mm module.

Can this be used in bathrooms?
