Description

This Mantra silk string lampshade uses hundreds of hand-wrapped silk threads over a tapered drum frame, measuring 190mm at the top rim, 300mm at the base and 200mm in height. The threads are wrapped under tension to create an even, ribbed surface texture in a deep chocolate brown tone. The shade is designed to fit standard E27 lamp holders on table and floor lamp bases.

The tapered drum shape suits bedside table lamps, reading lamps on occasional tables, and floor lamp conversions where a traditional fabric shade is preferred. The 300mm base diameter provides enough diffusion for ambient reading light without overwhelming a typical bedside table footprint. The shade clips onto a spider or duplex fitting ring depending on the base lamp configuration.

When lit, the tightly-wrapped silk threads allow light to pass through in fine vertical lines, creating a warm striped glow pattern on surrounding walls and ceilings. The dark brown colour reduces the overall light output compared to a cream or white shade, making this better suited to ambient accent lighting than task lighting. The silk retains its tension over time and the 400g weight gives the shade enough presence to sit securely on most lamp harps without tipping.
