Description

The Knightsbridge Seren is a 125mm recessed downlight with switchable wattage (7W, 10W or 12W) and colour temperature (3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white or 5000K cool white) set via switches on the driver before installation. The integrated SMD LED delivers between 950-1575 lumens depending on the chosen wattage and CCT combination, providing output flexibility across commercial retail, office and hospitality installations where lighting needs may change between zones or over time.

Designed for ceiling voids of 100mm minimum depth, the downlight requires a 125mm diameter cut-out and sits 69.5mm above the ceiling plane once recessed. The die-cast aluminium housing carries an IP40 rating (IP20 from above), making it suitable for general interior use in dry environments. The opal polycarbonate diffuser provides glare-controlled, even light distribution across a 100-degree beam angle. Plug-and-play connectors speed up installation, and the fitting is compatible with Knightsbridge's EMKIT2 emergency conversion kit for maintained or non-maintained emergency operation.

The white powder-coated finish blends into most ceiling planes without drawing attention to the fitting itself. 0-10V dimming compatibility allows integration with commercial lighting control systems, though specific dimmer compatibility should be verified before pairing. The driver carries Class II double-insulated construction, removing the need for an earth connection. L70B50 rated to 50,000 hours, the LED is expected to retain 70% of initial output after approximately 17 years of continuous use at 8 hours per day.

How do I change the wattage and colour temperature?

Both settings are adjusted via switches on the driver unit before installation. Once the downlight is fitted and the ceiling closed, the settings cannot be changed without removing the fitting. Choose your preferred wattage (7W, 10W or 12W) and CCT (3000K, 4000K or 5000K) during installation.

What ceiling void depth is required?

A minimum 100mm void above the ceiling surface is needed to accommodate the 69.5mm recessed depth of the fitting plus clearance for the driver and heat dissipation.

Is the Seren compatible with dimmer switches?

The Seren supports 0-10V dimming protocol, which is a commercial standard used with compatible control systems. It is not compatible with standard domestic trailing-edge or leading-edge dimmers. Verify compatibility with your specific 0-10V dimmer or control system before installation.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP40 rating means the fitting is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm but has no water ingress protection. It is suitable for general interior spaces but not for bathroom zones requiring IP44 or higher ratings.
