Description

The SARA is a recessed LED downlight with switchable wattage (30W, 35W or 40W), switchable colour temperature (3000K, 4000K or 5000K), and DALI2 control gear for integration into simple room or networked building management systems. The die-cast aluminium housing is finished in white powder coat, and the COB LED head rotates 350 degrees and tilts 40 degrees from vertical, allowing light to be directed onto walls, displays or workspaces within commercial interiors.

Designed for retail, office, hospitality and exhibition spaces where lighting requirements vary by zone or time of day, the SARA's wattage and CCT switching allows a single fitting type to be specified across multiple areas and adjusted on installation rather than stocking three different SKUs. The 170mm cut-out fits standard commercial ceiling grids, and the 180mm minimum void depth accommodates most suspended ceiling constructions. Plug-and-play connectors simplify installation and reduce on-site wiring time.

The COB LED delivers between 3,175 and 4,415 lumens depending on the wattage and CCT combination selected, with efficacy up to 130 lm/W and CRI >80. The DALI2 protocol allows the fitting to be addressed individually within a lighting control network, supporting dimming, scene recall and scheduled switching. The Class II construction requires no earth connection, and the IP20 rating suits standard indoor commercial environments. An optional emergency kit (EMKIT2) is available separately for maintained or non-maintained emergency operation.

The white powder-coated finish integrates cleanly into white or light-coloured ceilings without visual contrast, while the 38-degree beam angle provides focused accent or task lighting rather than broad ambient wash. The 50,000-hour L70B50 rating and 5-year warranty support long-term commercial deployment with low maintenance overhead.

Frequently Asked

How is the wattage and CCT selected?

Wattage and colour temperature are switched using DIP switches or selection buttons on the driver unit before installation. Once the setting is chosen and the fitting is powered, the selection remains fixed unless the fitting is powered down and the switches are changed. This is typically set once during commissioning.

What does DALI2 control allow?

DALI2 is a digital lighting control protocol that allows the fitting to be individually addressed and controlled within a networked system. This supports dimming, scene recall, scheduled switching, and integration with building management systems. Each fitting can be controlled independently or grouped with others in the same zone.

What void depth is needed in the ceiling?

A minimum 180mm void depth above the ceiling surface is required to accommodate the fitting body and driver. The 170mm cut-out diameter fits standard commercial ceiling grids.

Can it be used for emergency lighting?

An optional emergency kit (EMKIT2, sold separately) can be fitted to convert the SARA into a maintained or non-maintained emergency luminaire. The emergency kit is not included as standard.
