Description
The SARA is a recessed LED downlight with three switchable wattage settings (30W, 35W, 40W) and three selectable colour temperatures (3000K, 4000K, 5000K), adjusted via DIP switches on the driver before installation. The fitting uses COB (chip-on-board) LED technology behind a clear glass lens, delivering between 3,175 and 4,415 lumens depending on the wattage and CCT combination selected. The lamp head tilts 40 degrees and rotates 350 degrees within its white powder-coated aluminium housing, allowing the beam to be directed towards merchandise, signage, or architectural features.
Designed for commercial and retail installations where lighting requirements change over time or differ between zones, the SARA eliminates the need to stock multiple fixed-output downlights. A showroom might use 3000K warm white in a soft furnishings area and 5000K daylight in a tech display, all using the same fitting model with different switch positions. The 170mm cut-out fits standard commercial ceiling grids and requires a minimum 180mm ceiling void for the heatsink and driver. Plug-and-play connectors simplify installation and the fitting is compatible with Knightsbridge's EMKIT2 emergency backup module for emergency lighting applications.
The die-cast aluminium body dissipates heat through vertical cooling fins visible at the rear, maintaining the LED at operating temperature for the rated 50,000-hour L70B50 lifespan (the point at which the LED still outputs 70% of its initial lumens). The white powder-coated finish integrates cleanly into white ceilings in offices, galleries, hospitality and healthcare environments. The fitting is 0-10V dimmable when paired with compatible drivers and dimmer controls — check compatibility before specifying dimming infrastructure. CRI >80 ensures reasonable colour rendering for most commercial tasks, though critical colour-matching applications may benefit from higher-CRI alternatives.

Frequently Asked
How are the wattage and colour temperature adjusted?
Both are set via DIP switches on the driver unit before installation. The switches select one of three wattages (30W, 35W, 40W) and one of three colour temperatures (3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white, 5000K daylight). Once the ceiling is closed up the settings cannot be changed without removing the fitting.
What ceiling void depth is needed?
A minimum 180mm void above the ceiling surface is required to accommodate the heatsink, driver and plug connectors. The cut-out diameter is 170mm.
Is the SARA dimmable?
The fitting is 0-10V dimmable when paired with compatible drivers and control systems. Confirm compatibility with your specific dimmer and control infrastructure before installation, as not all 0-10V systems behave identically.
Can emergency lighting be added?
Yes. The SARA is compatible with Knightsbridge's EMKIT2 emergency backup module, which provides emergency illumination during mains failure. The emergency kit is sold separately.
