Description

The Knightsbridge RJ45 network outlet provides a single shuttered CAT5e Ethernet port behind a matt black screwless faceplate. The outlet uses IDC (insulation displacement connector) terminals that accept standard twisted-pair network cable without needing to strip individual conductors, and the shuttered RJ45 port blocks dust entry when no cable is plugged in.

Designed for wired network points in home offices, media rooms, and anywhere reliable gigabit Ethernet is needed over Wi-Fi, the outlet fits a standard 35mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. The built-in gasket behind the plate improves wall contact and reduces light bleed through gaps. A write-on designation label inside the plate allows the network point to be marked for reference during installation or troubleshooting.

The premium-grade steel construction is finished in a low-sheen matt black that minimises reflections and pairs cleanly with contemporary, industrial and minimal interiors. The 87.5mm square faceplate matches the footprint of standard UK single-gang switches and sockets, allowing network outlets to be grouped with power outlets in the same wall run without mismatched sizes. Certified to BS 5733 for data transmission performance.

The outlet accepts standard CAT5e or CAT6 twisted-pair Ethernet cable. The IDC terminals work with solid-core cable typically used for permanent installation runs. A termination tool is included in the box.

What back box depth is required?

A 35mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the outlet and re-clipped without re-terminating the cable.

What network speed does CAT5e support?

CAT5e supports gigabit Ethernet (1000 Mbps) over cable runs up to 100 metres. This outlet is certified to BS 5733 for data transmission performance at CAT5e specification.
