Description
The Knightsbridge PWRCR is a recessed rectangular plaster wall light that sits flush within the wall cavity, creating a narrow vertical slot of light through a 350mm x 100mm aperture. The fitting is constructed from natural gypsum plaster with a trimless design, meaning no visible frame or bezel projects from the wall surface once plastered in. A single GU10 lamp (sold separately) sits behind the slot, directing light forwards and casting a subtle glow along the recessed channel.
Designed for corridors, staircases, living rooms and feature walls where architectural lighting is preferred over visible fittings, the PWRCR requires a 73mm recessed depth behind the wall surface and a 100mm x 350mm cut-out in the plasterboard or masonry. The trimless edge sits level with the surrounding wall, and the white gypsum finish can be painted with standard emulsion to match the wall colour, allowing the fitting to disappear entirely when unlit. Multiple fittings can be installed in a vertical or horizontal series to create rhythm along a wall.
The GU10 lamp base accepts halogen or LED bulbs up to 35W, with dimmability dependent on the chosen bulb. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations away from bathrooms and kitchens with direct water exposure. Class II double-insulated construction means no earth connection is required during installation, simplifying wiring in cavity walls where earthing can be difficult to access.

Frequently Asked
What wall depth is needed for installation?
The fitting requires a minimum 73mm recessed depth behind the wall surface. The cut-out aperture is 100mm wide by 350mm tall. This typically suits stud walls with 100mm cavities or deeper masonry walls, but not standard 75mm stud partitions without additional depth provision.
Can the plaster finish be painted?
Yes. The natural gypsum construction accepts standard emulsion paint, allowing the fitting to be painted to match the surrounding wall. Use a good-quality matt emulsion and apply once the fitting is installed and the plasterwork is complete.
What bulb should I use?
The fitting takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 35W. Most users install a warm-white LED GU10 between 4-7W and 2700K-3000K for subtle accent lighting. Dimming capability depends on the specific bulb chosen — check the bulb packaging for dimmer compatibility.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
No. The IP20 rating restricts the fitting to dry indoor locations. It cannot be installed in bathrooms, shower rooms or kitchens where direct water splash is possible. For bathroom recessed lighting, an IP44 or IP65 rated fitting is required.
