QTX Low Level Fog Fluid 1L

QTX Low Level Fog Fluid is a 1-litre water-based formula designed for heater-type fog machines that produce ground-hugging fog effects. When vaporised, the fluid creates dense white fog that falls to the ground rather than rising, replicating the visual effect of dry ice without requiring solid CO2 or cooling units. The fluid conforms to REACH EC directive 91/155/EC and leaves no sticky residue after dispersal.

Intended for stage productions, event venues, Halloween installations and dance floors where a low-lying fog layer is needed, the fluid works in compatible low-level fog machines by being heated to vaporisation point and then cooled through the machine's internal heat exchanger. This cooling process causes the fog to sink on output. The 1L bottle suits smaller events, mobile DJs and entertainers who need portability without committing to 5L drums. Dispersion is slow, allowing the fog to remain low and stable across a floor area for several minutes before gradually dissipating.

The fluid itself is deep purple in colour when liquid but produces white fog output. Density is rated as high, meaning the fog particles are heavier than standard fog fluid and more likely to stay grounded in still air. Stability is rated as very good, indicating the fog maintains its low position longer than lighter formulations. The non-toxic, water-based composition means ventilation requirements are lower than solvent-based fluids, though adequate air circulation is still recommended during extended use in enclosed spaces.

What type of fog machine does this work in?

This fluid is designed specifically for heater-type low-level fog machines, which heat the fluid and then cool the vapour to create ground-hugging fog. It will not work in standard vertical fog machines or hazers that do not have a cooling stage.

Is the fluid safe to use indoors?

Yes. The fluid is water-based, non-toxic and conforms to REACH EC directive 91/155/EC. It leaves no sticky residue and does not produce harmful fumes. Adequate ventilation is still recommended during extended use, particularly in smaller enclosed spaces.

How long does the fog stay low to the ground?

Stability is rated as very good, meaning the fog remains grounded for several minutes in still air. Air movement from HVAC systems, open doors or crowds walking through the fog will cause it to dissipate more quickly. In calm conditions with no foot traffic the fog can linger low for 5-10 minutes depending on the room.

Why is the liquid purple if the fog is white?

The deep purple colour is a dye added to the fluid for identification purposes and does not affect the fog output colour. When vaporised and cooled the fog appears as white vapour regardless of the liquid colour in the bottle.
