Description

The QTX DP4 is a 4-channel DMX dimmer pack with dual IEC outputs on each channel, giving eight controllable output sockets in total. Each channel can be individually addressed via DMX or operated in standalone mode using 16 built-in chase programs accessed through the front-panel LED display and control buttons. The unit runs on 230Vac 50Hz mains and is designed specifically for incandescent and tungsten halogen stage fixtures.

Built for stage, theatre and live event use, the DP4 provides smooth dimming control over conventional filament-based lighting rigs. The dual outputs per channel allow two fixtures to share the same dimming curve, useful when pairing left/right stage washes or front/back spots on the same cue. Master/slave mode lets multiple DP4 units synchronise chase programs without needing a DMX controller, and the rack-mountable metal chassis includes side brackets for wall or truss mounting.

The DP4 includes a pulse function that sends a low-level current to filament bulbs when dimmed to zero, keeping the filament warm for faster on/off response and reducing the visible lag when bringing lights up from a full blackout. This feature only works with incandescent fixtures and should not be used with LED or discharge lamps. The unit weighs 2.5kg and measures 193 x 72 x 260mm, fitting a standard 2U rack space with optional rack ears.

Can the DP4 be used with LED fixtures?

No. The DP4 is designed for incandescent and tungsten halogen lamps only. The pulse function keeps filaments warm, which is incompatible with LED or discharge lamps and may damage those fixture types.

How many fixtures can be connected per channel?

Each channel has two IEC outputs. The total load per channel depends on the dimmer rating shown in the full specification. Do not exceed the per-channel wattage limit when connecting multiple fixtures to the same channel.

Does it require a DMX controller to operate?

No. The DP4 can operate in standalone mode using the 16 built-in chase programs, controlled via the front-panel buttons and LED display. DMX control is optional and requires a separate controller.

Can multiple DP4 units be linked?

Yes. Master/slave mode allows multiple DP4 units to synchronise their chase programs without needing individual DMX addressing. The master unit controls the timing and the slave units follow.
