Description

The Knightsbridge OWALL1BCP is a compact outdoor wall light with a built-in photocell sensor that automatically switches the light on at dusk and off at dawn. The cylindrical housing measures 60mm diameter and 120mm height, constructed from 201 stainless steel with a brushed chrome finish. A single GU10 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately) sits behind a clear lens at the base of the downward-facing cylinder.

Designed for external walls at doorways, porches, garages and side passages, the IP54 rating protects the fitting from dust ingress and water splashing from any direction. The photocell sensor removes the need for manual switching or timers, making the light suitable for low-maintenance domestic and commercial installations where automatic operation is preferred. The 96mm projection from the wall keeps the fitting clear of rainwater run-off on most standard external wall surfaces.

The brushed chrome finish on the stainless steel housing resists weathering and pairs with modern, industrial and contemporary exteriors. The 20W maximum bulb rating accepts both halogen GU10s and LED GU10s, with most users choosing LED for lower running costs and longer bulb life. The Class I construction requires an earth connection during installation.

How does the photocell sensor work?

The built-in photocell detects ambient light levels and automatically switches the light on when it gets dark and off when it gets light. The switching threshold is factory-set and does not require adjustment. The sensor operates independently once the mains power is connected.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a single GU10 bulb up to 20W maximum, sold separately. Most users choose a warm-white LED GU10 between 3-5W and 2700K-3000K for energy efficiency and longer bulb life compared to halogen.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

The 201 stainless steel construction provides reasonable corrosion resistance in most outdoor environments. In exposed coastal locations with salt spray, the brushed chrome finish may show weathering over time. Regular cleaning with fresh water extends the finish life in these conditions.

Can the photocell be overridden or disabled?

The photocell is integrated into the unit and cannot be disabled without removing mains power. If manual control is needed, a separate isolator switch should be installed on the mains feed to the light.
