Description

Mini Mush is a table lamp in orange. A broad glass dome with a spiral flute turned into it, the ribs sweeping round from the crown to the rim so the whole shade reads as a slow twist. The glass is a warm butter cream, translucent rather than opal, so the flutes show as alternating bands of pale and deeper tone. The dome is wide and low with a softly pointed crown and an open unrimmed edge. It sits on a short orange stem rising from a flat round orange disc base. The warm orange against the cream glass is the whole of the contrast. It measures 17cm across and the same in height, in glass and metal.

It is a lamp for a side table, a desk or a bedside, close enough to reach the switch from where you sit, and it lights the surface it stands on rather than the whole room. A pair either side of a bed or a sofa reads as deliberate where one alone reads as an afterthought, and two smaller lamps light a room more evenly than one large one. There is an inline switch on the flex, so it is reached at the fitting rather than by following the flex down.

The holder is G9 and takes up to 25W. It plugs into an ordinary socket, so it needs no electrician. It is class II, double insulated, so it needs no earth, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

Which bulb does it take?

A G9 lamp up to 25W. Bulbs are supplied separately so you can choose the brightness and colour you want.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, on a compatible dimmer, provided the lamp you fit is a dimmable one. The fitting has no dimmer of its own.

Does it need an electrician?

No. It comes on a flex with a moulded plug and goes into an ordinary socket.

Where is the switch?

There is inline switch on the flex.

Does it need an earth?

No. It is class II, double insulated, so it is wired live and neutral only.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is IP20, which covers dry interior rooms only. A bathroom needs IP44 or better.
