Description

The Knightsbridge LED plinth light is an 87.5mm square recessed fitting with an integrated 0.8W SMD LED emitting 15 lumens of 4000K cool white light through an opal diffuser. The brushed chrome screwless faceplate sits just 4.3mm proud of the wall or plinth surface, giving a low-profile finish that won't catch feet or cleaning equipment on stairs or skirting boards.

Designed for staircases, kitchen plinths, hallway skirting boards and bedroom floor-level accent lighting, the fitting casts a soft wash of light across the floor or step ahead without creating glare at eye level. The 15-lumen output is sufficient for wayfinding and ambient definition rather than task illumination — multiple fittings spaced at 1-2m intervals along a staircase or plinth run provide continuous low-level lighting without overwhelming the space.

The screwless design uses a cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible fixings once installed. The brushed chrome finish provides a neutral metallic tone that pairs with both modern and traditional interiors. The fitting requires a 25mm minimum mounting depth and is rated IP20 for indoor dry locations only — not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor use, or areas exposed to moisture.

The fitting requires a minimum 25mm mounting depth behind the plinth or wall surface. The faceplate itself projects just 4.3mm from the surface once installed, giving a low-profile finish that won't catch feet or vacuum cleaners.

Is it dimmable?

No. The integrated 0.8W LED is not dimmable and operates at fixed brightness on 230V mains. If dimming control is needed, consider wiring multiple fittings through a switched circuit so groups can be turned on or off.

Can it be used in bathrooms or outdoors?

No. The IP20 rating means this fitting is for indoor dry locations only. It is not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor installations, or any area exposed to moisture or spray.

How many fittings are needed for a typical staircase?

For a standard domestic staircase with 13-15 steps, spacing fittings at 1-2m intervals (typically one per 2-3 steps) provides continuous low-level wayfinding light. The 15-lumen output per fitting is designed for accent and safety lighting, not full illumination.
