Description
The Knightsbridge EMEXITL is a wall or ceiling-mounted LED emergency exit sign with an integrated arrow-up legend, designed to mark evacuation routes above doorways and corridor exits. The fitting houses an SMD LED panel behind a white polycarbonate face, with a LiFePO4 battery providing 3 hours of illumination at 48 lumens when mains power fails.
Installed in commercial buildings, hotels, offices, schools and public spaces where Building Regulations require illuminated emergency signage, the fitting can be wired for maintained operation (LED on continuously) or non-maintained operation (LED only on during power failure). The unique hanger and hinge system allows the same fitting to be mounted flush to a ceiling or vertically on a wall without needing different bracket hardware. The 310mm x 230mm face is visible from typical corridor distances of 15-20 metres.
The polycarbonate construction is impact-resistant and rated IP20 for dry indoor environments. The 6000K daylight colour temperature provides clear visibility in smoke or low-light conditions during an evacuation. The arrow-up legend is supplied as standard, with other directional legends (left, right, down) available separately to suit different exit configurations. The fitting draws 4W on mains operation and is Class II double-insulated, requiring no earth connection.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between maintained and non-maintained operation?
Maintained operation keeps the LED on continuously, so the sign is always visible. Non-maintained operation only illuminates the LED when mains power fails. The choice depends on building regulations for your specific installation — consult your electrical contractor or fire safety officer.
How long does the battery last during a power cut?
The LiFePO4 battery provides 3 hours of illumination at 48 lumens when mains power fails, meeting UK Building Regulations requirements for most non-residential buildings.
Can the arrow direction be changed?
The fitting is supplied with an arrow-up legend as standard. Other directional legends (left, right, down) are available separately and can be swapped by removing the polycarbonate face. Search for Knightsbridge emergency exit legends to find compatible options.
What fixing method does it use?
The fitting uses a unique hanger and hinge system that allows the same bracket to be used for wall or ceiling mounting. The bracket fixes to the surface with screws, and the main body clips onto the bracket and hinges open for wiring access.
