Description
The Knightsbridge EMLRECL is a recessed LED emergency exit sign with an Arrow Up legend, designed for ceiling mounting above doorways and at decision points in escape routes. The sign operates in either maintained mode (illuminated at all times) or non-maintained mode (illuminated only during mains power failure), with the operating mode set during installation. A LiFePO4 battery provides a minimum 3-hour emergency runtime when mains power is lost.
The sign recesses into ceiling voids with a minimum 50mm depth, requiring a 310 x 48mm cut-out. The white polycarbonate construction suits commercial, retail, hospitality and public building applications where BS 5266 and BS EN 1838 compliant emergency lighting is required. The recessed profile sits 40mm into the ceiling void with a 170mm projection below the ceiling plane, giving visibility down corridors and across open-plan spaces without obstructing sightlines or headroom.
The integrated SMD LED panel produces 15 lumens in normal operation and 8 lumens in emergency mode, both at 6000K daylight colour temperature. The Arrow Up legend is supplied as standard, with alternative directional legends (left, right, down) available separately for sites requiring directional guidance at corridor junctions and stairwells. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations, and the Class II construction removes the need for an earth connection during installation.

Frequently Asked
What is the difference between maintained and non-maintained operation?
In maintained mode, the sign is illuminated at all times when mains power is present, switching to battery during power failure. In non-maintained mode, the sign remains off during normal operation and only illuminates when mains power is lost. The operating mode is selected during installation and cannot be switched between modes once set.
What ceiling void depth is required for installation?
A minimum 50mm void depth is needed above the ceiling to accommodate the 40mm recessed section of the fitting. The cut-out required in the ceiling is 310 x 48mm.
Can the legend be changed?
The sign is supplied with an Arrow Up legend as standard. Alternative directional legends (left, right, down) are available separately and can be fitted by removing the front diffuser panel.
How long does the battery last during a power cut?
The LiFePO4 battery provides a minimum 3-hour emergency runtime at 8 lumens output, meeting UK building regulations for emergency escape lighting in most commercial applications.
