Description

The Knightsbridge BA03S1C is an IP44-rated single GU10 spotlight in polished chrome, designed for bathroom installation and other moisture-prone environments. The spotlight head rotates 350° and tilts 90°, allowing light to be directed onto mirrors, shower enclosures, or across the room as needed. A pull cord switch mounted on the backplate provides on/off control without requiring a separate wall switch.

Designed for zones 2 and 3 in UK bathroom regulations, the IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction, making the fitting suitable for mounting above basins, alongside mirrors, or in areas subject to condensation. The spotlight takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 20W (sold separately), which can be halogen or LED depending on preference for light quality and running cost. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific bulb chosen.

The pressed steel housing and polished chrome finish resist corrosion in humid bathroom conditions and provide a reflective surface that pairs with chrome taps, towel rails and mirror frames. The clear glass lens at the front of the spotlight allows full light output without diffusion. At 123mm projection from the wall and 100mm height, the fitting sits compact enough for positioning above typical basin mirrors without intruding into headroom.

Can this be used in a bathroom shower enclosure?

The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for zones 2 and 3 in UK bathroom regulations. It is not rated for installation inside a shower enclosure itself (zone 1), but can be mounted on walls adjacent to showers or above basins where splashing occurs.

What bulb should I use?

The spotlight takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 20W. Most users install a GU10 LED bulb between 4-6W and 3000K-4000K for bathroom lighting. Bulbs are sold separately. Choose a dimmable GU10 LED if you plan to fit a dimmer switch.

How is it switched on and off?

A pull cord switch is integrated into the backplate, allowing the light to be turned on and off without needing a separate wall switch. The cord hangs approximately 150mm below the fitting when installed.

Can the spotlight head be adjusted after installation?

Yes. The head rotates 350° on the backplate and tilts 90° up or down, so you can re-aim the light towards a mirror, shower, or across the room at any time without removing the fitting from the wall.
