Description

The Knightsbridge GU10 LED Emergency Pack converts a standard 230V GU10 ceiling fitting into a maintained or non-maintained emergency light with 3-hour battery backup. The pack contains an inverter module, a rechargeable battery, pre-wired connectors for the GU10 lampholder, and an LED charge indicator, all housed within a white polycarbonate protective sleeve measuring 528mm long by 50mm diameter.

Designed for commercial, hospitality and residential applications requiring BS 5266 compliant emergency lighting, the pack fits into ceiling voids with a minimum 55mm cut-out diameter. In maintained mode the GU10 lamp operates normally on mains power and automatically switches to battery backup during a mains failure. In non-maintained mode the lamp only illuminates during power cuts. The pack supports GU10 LED lamps up to 6W maximum draw and recharges automatically when mains power is restored.

The pre-wired connectors simplify retrofit installation into existing GU10 downlights without the need to replace the entire fitting. The pack carries a Class II double-insulated rating and IP20 ingress protection, making it suitable for dry indoor locations including offices, corridors, stairwells, and residential hallways. The polycarbonate construction provides impact resistance and the white finish blends into most ceiling voids. Knightsbridge offers a 3-year warranty on the electronics, excluding the battery.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between maintained and non-maintained mode?

In maintained mode the GU10 lamp operates on mains power during normal use and switches to battery backup during a power cut. In non-maintained mode the lamp only illuminates when mains power fails, remaining off under normal conditions. The pack supports both modes and can be wired for either during installation.

Does the pack include a GU10 bulb?

No. The GU10 LED lamp must be purchased separately and should not exceed 6W maximum wattage. Check compatibility with the emergency pack before installation — not all GU10 LEDs work correctly with battery inverter circuits.

How long does the battery last during a power cut?

The rechargeable battery provides 3 hours of emergency illumination when fully charged. The battery recharges automatically when mains power is restored. Battery performance degrades over time and the battery itself is not covered under the 3-year warranty.

Can it be fitted into existing GU10 downlights?

Yes. The pack is designed for retrofit installation into standard 230V GU10 ceiling fittings. The ceiling void must have at least 55mm diameter space to accommodate the 50mm-wide protective sleeve, and sufficient depth to house the 528mm-long inverter and battery assembly.
