Knightsbridge 25W 12V Constant Voltage Dimmable LED Driver - IP20

The Knightsbridge 12DC25D is a 25W constant voltage LED driver that converts 230V AC mains to 12V DC output for low-voltage LED strip lighting, cabinet lighting and other 12V LED installations. The driver outputs a stable 12V regardless of the connected load up to its 25W maximum capacity, making it suitable for running multiple LED strips or modules in parallel where the total wattage does not exceed 25W.

Designed for installation inside furniture voids, behind panels, above ceilings or within enclosures where the driver will not be visible, the unit measures 128mm long by 52mm wide by 30mm high and fits into typical kitchen plinths, wardrobes and ceiling voids. The IP20 rating means the driver must be protected from moisture and is not suitable for bathroom zones or outdoor use without additional IP-rated enclosure. The ABS housing includes push-fit terminal blocks for mains input and 12V output connections.

The driver is dimmable when paired with trailing-edge phase-control dimmers on the mains input side — compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model, so check with the dimmer manufacturer before installation. Built-in protections guard against open circuit, short circuit, overload and over-temperature conditions, automatically shutting down the output if a fault is detected. The SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) output and Class II double-insulated construction mean no earth connection is required at the output terminals.

What is the difference between constant voltage and constant current LED drivers?

Constant voltage drivers like this one maintain a fixed output voltage (12V) regardless of the connected load, making them suitable for LED strip lighting where multiple sections run in parallel. Constant current drivers maintain a fixed current (measured in milliamps) and are used for individual LED modules or arrays wired in series. Check your LED product specification to confirm which type is required.

Can this driver be dimmed?

Yes, but only with trailing-edge phase-control dimmers fitted on the mains input side. Leading-edge dimmers are not compatible and may cause flicker, hum or failure to dim. Check compatibility with your specific dimmer model before installation — the driver manufacturer does not guarantee compatibility with all trailing-edge dimmers on the market.

Where can this driver be installed?

The IP20 rating limits installation to dry indoor locations only. Typical installations include kitchen plinths, inside wardrobes, above suspended ceilings, behind bathroom mirrors in non-zoned areas, and inside furniture. The driver must not be exposed to moisture, dust ingress or outdoor conditions.

How many metres of LED strip can this driver power?

This depends on the wattage per metre of your LED strip. Divide 25W by the strip's wattage-per-metre rating to find the maximum run length. For example, a 4.8W/m strip allows up to 5.2m on this driver, while a 9.6W/m strip allows 2.6m. Always stay below the 25W total to avoid overload shutdown.
