The Knightsbridge 12W constant voltage LED driver converts 230V 50Hz mains input to a stable 12V DC output, designed to power LED strip lighting, under-cabinet lighting, and other 12V LED fixtures drawing up to 12W total load. The driver maintains a fixed voltage regardless of the connected load within its rated capacity, ensuring consistent brightness across all LEDs on the circuit.

Housed in a compact red polycarbonate case measuring 98mm × 39mm × 22mm, the driver fits into ceiling voids, behind kitchen plinths, inside furniture, and other concealed spaces where 12V LED installations require mains conversion. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor locations only — the driver is not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor use, or any environment where moisture ingress is possible. Class II double-insulated construction means no earth connection is required during installation.

The driver operates on a constant voltage principle, meaning it delivers a steady 12V regardless of how many LEDs are connected, provided the total wattage does not exceed 12W. For example, it can power a 1m run of 9.6W per metre LED tape, or a combination of 12V spotlights totalling up to 12W. The driver is non-dimmable — attempting to use it with a dimmer switch will cause flicker, premature failure, or both. For dimmable 12V LED circuits, a dimmable-rated driver is required.

Constant voltage drivers like this one deliver a fixed voltage (12V) and allow the current to vary depending on the load connected. They suit LED strip and tape where multiple LEDs are wired in parallel. Constant current drivers deliver a fixed current and are used for individual high-power LEDs or LED modules wired in series.

Can I use this driver with a dimmer switch?

No. This driver is non-dimmable. Connecting it to a dimmer circuit will cause flickering, reduce driver lifespan, or cause immediate failure. If dimming is needed, specify a dimmable-rated constant voltage driver instead.

How many metres of LED tape can this driver power?
