Description

The E14 Socket Ring Lampholder E14 is the part a lamp screws into, made up on the flex of a pendant or wired into a lamp. A dark grey moulded lampholder with a broad threaded skirt and a separate shade ring that sits over it, topped by a plain cord entry standing up from the body. The body is a stepped cylinder with shallow ribs round its shoulder, and the shade ring is a flat collar with a turned lip sized to trap a shade against the holder. The finish is a fine-grained matt grey, dark enough to read as black at a distance. There is nothing decorative on it and no metal visible apart from the lamp contacts.

It is the part everything else is built around: a shade goes over it, a flex runs into it, and the lamp you choose sets how the light reads. It is a part rather than a finished fitting, so it is bought alongside whatever it is going to carry or connect to rather than on its own. That is the point of buying the pieces separately: the shade, the flex and the holder are each chosen on their own, and a run can be made up to a length and a drop that no finished pendant would give you.

The holder is E14 and takes up to 40W. It wires into a fixed outlet at a terminal block, which is work for a competent electrician. It is class II, double insulated, so it needs no earth, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.
