Description

The Duracell Plus Power AA batteries are 1.5V alkaline cells supplied in a 16-pack, designed to power everyday household devices including remote controls, wireless keyboards, torches, wall clocks and children's toys. Each battery uses Duracell's Duralock technology to retain charge for up to 10 years when stored unused in the pack, meaning batteries bought in bulk remain ready to use without degrading over time.

Alkaline chemistry provides higher energy density than standard zinc-carbon batteries, making these suitable for moderate-drain devices that run continuously (clocks, smoke alarms) as well as intermittent-use devices (TV remotes, game controllers). The AA size (also known as LR6 or MN1500) is the most common battery format in UK households and fits the vast majority of battery-operated devices sold in the past 30 years.

Each battery measures 14.5mm diameter by 50.5mm length and weighs approximately 23g. The 16-pack format reduces packaging waste compared to buying single or 4-packs and provides enough cells to stock a household drawer or office supply cupboard for several months of typical use. The copper-and-black livery on the cells distinguishes the Plus Power range from Duracell's entry-level and premium Pro Power lines.

Frequently Asked

How long do these batteries last in storage?

Duracell's Duralock technology keeps the batteries charged for up to 10 years when stored in the original packaging at room temperature. Once opened and inserted into a device, runtime depends on the device's power draw.

What devices are these batteries suitable for?

AA alkaline batteries power most common household electronics: TV and audio remotes, wireless keyboards and mice, digital thermometers, wall clocks, torches, children's battery-operated toys, smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. They are less suited to very high-drain devices like digital cameras with flash, which perform better with lithium AA cells.

Are these batteries rechargeable?

No. These are single-use alkaline batteries and should not be placed in a battery charger. Attempting to recharge alkaline cells can cause leakage or rupture. For rechargeable AA batteries, look for NiMH (nickel-metal hydride) cells instead.

How should I dispose of used batteries?

Alkaline batteries can be recycled at most supermarket and civic amenity site battery recycling points in the UK. Do not dispose of batteries in general household waste.
