Description

The Knightsbridge PWL4 is a 180mm curved plaster wall light that casts light both upwards and downwards through an open-ended oval profile. The fitting is moulded from natural gypsum plaster and comes factory-finished in white, ready to install as-is or to paint with emulsion to match the surrounding wall colour.

Designed for hallways, living rooms, bedrooms and staircases where ambient lighting is needed without visible bulbs or harsh downward glare, the curved profile diffuses light softly in both directions. The 100mm projection from the wall gives the fitting enough depth to prevent shadowing directly below the fitting itself, making it suitable for corridors and passages where wall clearance matters. The fitting takes a single G9 bulb up to 40W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose LED or halogen depending on dimming needs.

The natural gypsum construction absorbs paint well, allowing the fitting to be colour-matched to any interior using standard emulsion. Once painted, the fitting blends into the wall plane while the lit apertures at top and bottom remain visible, creating a floating effect after dark. Multiple fittings can be spaced evenly along a corridor or stairwell to provide continuous ambient light without ceiling fixtures. The white factory finish works equally well unpainted in modern or Scandinavian schemes where white walls are a deliberate design choice.

Can this fitting be painted?

Yes. The natural gypsum plaster construction accepts standard emulsion paint. Prime the surface first if painting a dark colour over the factory white finish, and avoid gloss or oil-based paints as they do not bond well to plaster.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a single G9 capsule bulb up to 40W (sold separately). Most users pair this with a 3-5W LED G9 bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) for low running cost and adequate ambient light in hallways and bedrooms.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the bulb you choose. LED G9 bulbs labelled as dimmable will work with compatible dimmers; non-dimmable LEDs will not. Halogen G9 bulbs are inherently dimmable but run hotter and use more energy than LED equivalents.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the fitting is not protected against moisture and should not be used in bathroom zones where water contact is possible. It can be used in a dry bathroom area well away from the bath or shower enclosure.
