Description

Angora is a floor lamp in brass. A slim brushed brass stem rises from a shallow domed round base and arcs over at the top like a crook, ending in a small bell shaped head that points down. The head is compact and rounded rather than wide, so the light leaves it as a fairly tight column. A sleeve about a third of the way up the stem marks where it telescopes, and the height is set by hand, with no tools and nothing to unscrew. The head tilts and turns on its joint, and a small switch sits at the back of it where it meets the arm.

It is a reading lamp first. Beside an armchair, at the end of a sofa or in the corner of a room, it puts one pool of light exactly where it is needed without lighting the whole space, and the arc of the stem brings the head out over the chair rather than leaving it standing to one side. There is a reflector inside the head that pushes more of the output forward instead of letting it sit in the bell.

The switch is on the head rather than on the flex, so it is reached from where you are sitting rather than from the floor. It plugs into an ordinary socket, so no electrician is needed. The holder is E27 and takes up to 40W. It is class II, double insulated, so it needs no earth, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.
