Description

The Knightsbridge 9-12 gang grid mounting frame is a premium steel sub-frame designed to sit behind screwless grid faceplates, allowing modular switch and socket configurations to be installed without visible fixings on the wall. The frame measures 148mm wide by 208mm high and accepts 9, 10, 11 or 12 individual grid modules depending on how they are arranged within the apertures.

Designed for custom grid installations in commercial, hospitality and residential projects where multiple switch or socket functions need to be grouped into a single faceplate, the frame fixes into a standard back box using terminal screws and provides an earth terminal for safety bonding. The included gasket sits between the frame and the wall surface to seal the aperture and prevent dust ingress behind the faceplate. Once grid modules are clipped into the frame, the screwless cover plate clips over the entire assembly, hiding all fixings.

The premium steel construction gives the frame rigidity and dimensional stability under repeated module changes, and the IP20 rating confirms it is suitable for dry indoor environments. The 10.5mm projection from the wall allows enough depth for the grid module terminals and cable runs without creating excessive protrusion once the faceplate is fitted. The frame pairs exclusively with Knightsbridge screwless grid faceplates — it is not compatible with standard screw-fixed grid plates.

This frame is designed exclusively for Knightsbridge screwless grid faceplates in the 9-gang and 12-gang sizes. It will not fit standard screw-fixed grid plates or other manufacturers' systems.

How many modules can I fit?

The frame accepts 9, 10, 11 or 12 individual grid modules depending on their size and how they are arranged. Standard single-width modules allow up to 12, while double-width modules reduce the total count.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 25mm back box depth is recommended for safe installation with grid modules and cable terminations. The frame's 10.5mm projection sits in front of the back box once fitted.

Is the gasket reusable if I remove the faceplate?

The included gasket is designed for single-use installation. If the faceplate is removed and refitted multiple times, the gasket may compress or tear and should be replaced to maintain a proper seal against the wall.
