Description
The Knightsbridge 6ft LED batten combines switchable wattage (27W or 52W), CCT adjustment (3000K, 4000K, 5700K), integrated microwave presence detection and 3-hour emergency lighting in a single 1790mm pressed steel and polycarbonate housing. The dual wattage setting allows the same fitting to serve different ceiling heights and light requirements without stocking multiple models, while the three CCT options let installers match the light colour to the space during commissioning.
Designed as a direct replacement for conventional fluorescent tube fittings in commercial, retail, education and industrial environments, the batten mounts on standard 600mm joist centres or BESA boxes and includes rear and end conduit fixing points. The hinged gear tray gives access to the driver, sensor settings and loop in-loop out terminals without removing the batten from the ceiling. Push-fit terminals handle the live feed and outgoing supply in a single connection step, reducing installation time on multi-batten runs.
At 27W the batten outputs 4,170 lumens at 4000K across a 145° beam angle, suited to corridor, storage and low-occupancy task areas. At 52W output rises to 7,520 lumens at 4000K, providing maintained illumination for open-plan offices, classrooms, workshops and retail back-of-house spaces. The microwave sensor has adjustable sensitivity and time-delay settings, allowing the batten to act as presence-controlled lighting in circulation areas while staying permanently on in occupied rooms. The lithium battery powers a minimum 3-hour emergency mode at 310 lumens, meeting UK building regulation requirements for escape route lighting.
The white powder-coated steel body and opal polycarbonate diffuser deliver even light distribution without visible LED hotspots. The fitting carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor use and a 5-year warranty on the LED module and driver (battery excluded). L70B50 rated at 60,000 hours, the batten provides approximately 13 years of service at 12 hours per day operation before reaching 70% of initial output.

Frequently Asked
How is the wattage and CCT changed?
Both settings are adjusted via switches accessible through the hinged gear tray on the batten body. The wattage toggle switches between 27W and 52W output, and the CCT selector switches between 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white and 5700K daylight. Both can be set during installation or changed later without rewiring.
What emergency modes does the batten support?
The batten supports maintained (always on), non-maintained (emergency only), and switched emergency modes. The lithium battery provides a minimum 3-hour duration at 310 lumens in emergency mode, meeting UK building regulation requirements for escape route lighting.
How does the microwave sensor work?
The integrated microwave presence sensor detects movement within its range and automatically switches the batten on. Sensitivity and time-delay settings are adjustable via controls in the gear tray, allowing the batten to act as presence-controlled lighting in circulation areas or stay permanently on in occupied rooms where the sensor acts as a fail-safe.
Can multiple battens be looped together?
Yes. Push-fit loop in-loop out terminals in the gear tray allow multiple battens to be daisy-chained from a single supply without junction boxes. The hinged tray gives access to terminals without removing the batten from the ceiling, reducing installation time on multi-batten runs.
