Description

The Knightsbridge GDM022AT is a 6A 2-way switch module styled to look like a rotary dimmer, designed for use in modular grid faceplates where you need the appearance of a dimmer without the dimming function. The rotary knob is decorative only — the module operates as a standard on/off push switch rated at 6A on 230V circuits.

Designed for grid systems where multiple modules (switches, dimmers, data points) fit into a single faceplate, this dummy dimmer allows you to maintain visual consistency across a multi-gang plate when one gang controls non-dimmable loads like bathroom extractors, wall heaters or fluorescent fittings. The 2-way wiring configuration allows the module to work in two-way switching circuits with a matching switch at another location.

The module measures 25mm wide (one grid space) and requires a minimum 35mm back box depth. The anthracite finish is a dark charcoal grey that pairs with contemporary and industrial interiors, and matches the colour palette used across Knightsbridge's grid and screwless plate ranges. The ABS and steel construction meets IP20 rating for dry indoor use.

Frequently Asked

Does the rotary knob actually dim the lights?

No. The rotary knob is decorative only. The module operates as a standard on/off push switch — you press the knob to turn the circuit on or off. It does not provide any dimming function.

Why would I use a dummy dimmer instead of a standard switch?

Dummy dimmers are used in grid faceplates where you want visual consistency across multiple gangs. If one gang controls a dimmable load and another controls a non-dimmable load like an extractor fan or fluorescent fitting, using a dummy dimmer module makes both gangs look identical from the front.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 35mm back box depth is needed. The module itself has a 23mm recessed depth and projects 23mm from the grid faceplate once fitted.

Can it be used in 2-way switching circuits?

Yes. The module is rated for 2-way switching, so it can be wired to work with another switch at a different location controlling the same circuit.
