The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker switch is a double-pole isolator switch fitted with a red neon indicator and a brushed chrome screwless faceplate in a 2-gang mounting size. The 45A rating handles electric cookers, ovens and hobs drawing up to 10.35kW on 230V mains, with the double-pole switching isolating both live and neutral lines when the unit is turned off.

Designed for kitchen installation within 2 metres of the cooker or hob it controls, the switch provides a safe isolation point for maintenance, cleaning and appliance replacement without requiring access to the consumer unit. A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The switch fits standard 2-gang UK back boxes typically used for double sockets, making retrofit straightforward where an existing box is present.

What does the neon indicator show?

The red neon glows when the switch is in the on position, confirming that power is live to the connected cooking appliance. When the switch is off, the neon is dark and the appliance is fully isolated from the mains.

Can this control multiple appliances?

Yes, provided the combined load does not exceed 45A (10.35kW at 230V). A typical setup might include an oven and a separate hob on the same circuit, both isolated by the single switch.

Where should it be positioned in the kitchen?

UK wiring regulations require the cooker switch to be within 2 metres of the appliance it controls and positioned so it can be reached without reaching over the hob or cooker top. Most installations place it on the wall adjacent to the cooker at worktop height.
