Description

The Knightsbridge SN8333N combines a 45A dual-pole cooker switch and a 13A switched socket on a single white square edge faceplate with anti-microbial properties. Both switches feature red rockers with neon indicators that glow when the circuit is live, providing visual confirmation of power status. The dual-pole switching on the cooker control isolates both live and neutral lines when off, required under UK wiring regulations for high-draw appliances.

Designed for kitchen installation where a cooker and a standard socket outlet are needed at the same wall position, the unit fits a 47mm minimum back box depth and measures 146mm wide by 86mm high. The 13A socket handles standard appliance loads up to 3,120W, while the 45A switch controls electric cookers, ranges and hobs drawing up to 10,440W on a 230V circuit. The neon indicators are positioned above each switch, visible at a glance during cooking.

The 9mm square edge plate is made from thermoset resin treated with an anti-microbial additive tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on high-contact surfaces in food preparation areas. The white finish is laser-printed rather than surface-applied, giving better resistance to wear and discolouration over the product's 25-year warranty period. Screw cap covers are included to hide the fixing screws once installed, giving a cleaner wall finish.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed to accommodate both the cooker switch and socket outlets safely. The 9mm plate projection adds to the total wall protrusion once fitted.

What does the neon indicator show?

Each neon glows when the respective circuit is live. The cooker switch neon shows when power is available to the cooker circuit, and the socket neon shows when the 13A outlet is switched on. This provides visual confirmation without needing to test with a plug-in device.

Can the socket and cooker switch be used independently?

Yes. The 13A socket and 45A cooker switch operate on separate circuits and can be switched independently. The socket does not depend on the cooker switch position, and vice versa.

What is the anti-microbial treatment?

The thermoset resin is treated with an additive that reduces bacterial growth on the plate surface, tested to ISO 22196:2011. This is useful in kitchens and food preparation areas where plates are touched frequently with hands that may carry food residues.
