Description
The Knightsbridge T8 5ft LED tube is a 24W glass-bodied replacement for traditional T8 fluorescent tubes, delivering 2980 lumens at 4000K cool white. The tube measures 1512mm long with a 27mm diameter and fits standard G13 bi-pin T8 lampholders. An integrated driver and instant-start electronics mean there's no warm-up delay when switched on.
Designed for offices, schools, warehouses and retail environments where direct fluorescent tube replacement is needed, the tube outputs 132.5lm/W, which reduces running costs compared to older fluorescent equivalents drawing 58W for similar output. The 245-degree beam angle spreads light broadly across the length of the fitting, making it suitable for batten fittings mounted 2.4-3m above a floor. The 4000K colour temperature gives a neutral white light that suits task environments where colour accuracy and alertness matter more than ambient warmth.
The glass tube body resists yellowing and heat distortion better than all-plastic alternatives, while the opal polycarbonate diffuser inside the tube softens the LED chip pattern into an even linear light source. The tube carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor use and a CRI above 80, meaning colour rendering is adequate for general commercial use. The L70B50 rating of 20,000 hours indicates that at least 70% of the tubes will still be producing 70% of initial output at that runtime, assuming typical commercial usage of 8-12 hours per day.

Frequently Asked
Can this tube be used in existing fluorescent fittings?
It depends on the fitting type. For switch-start fittings, the starter must be removed and replaced with an LED-compatible dummy starter. For electronic ballast fittings, the ballast must be bypassed and the tube wired directly to mains. Consult the Product Manual in the Downloads tab for wiring diagrams specific to your fitting type.
Is this tube dimmable?
No. The integrated driver does not support dimming controls. Connecting it to a dimmer circuit may cause flicker or premature failure.
What's the expected lifespan?
The L70B50 rating of 20,000 hours means that after 20,000 hours of operation, at least 70% of the tubes will still be producing 70% of their initial 2980lm output. In a typical commercial environment running 10 hours per day, this equates to approximately 5.5 years before noticeable degradation.
Is the 4000K colour temperature suitable for offices?
Yes. 4000K is a neutral cool white commonly used in offices, schools and retail environments where clear task visibility is needed without the warmer tone of 3000K domestic lighting or the clinical coldness of 6000K+ industrial tubes.
