Description

The Knightsbridge 20AX intermediate grid module is a single-width switch module in polished chrome, designed to clip into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames (sold separately). The module provides intermediate switching function, used in three-way or multi-location lighting control where a circuit is controlled from three or more points.

Intermediate modules are typically installed between two two-way switches to create a three-location switching setup, allowing a single lighting circuit to be controlled from an entrance, hallway and landing, for example. The 20AX rating handles resistive loads up to 4,600W on 230V supply, suitable for controlling multiple light fittings on a single circuit or higher-wattage downlight arrays.

The polished chrome rocker sits in a white ABS and steel module body measuring 24.8mm wide by 56.3mm tall, fitting a single grid aperture. The module clips into the front of a grid frame without tools, and the frame itself fixes to a standard 35mm minimum back box. The polished chrome finish provides a mirror-like metallic accent that pairs with contemporary, minimalist and high-contrast interiors.

Frequently Asked

What is an intermediate switch used for?

An intermediate switch is used in three-way or multi-location lighting control. It sits between two two-way switches, allowing a single lighting circuit to be controlled from three or more positions. Typical use is controlling landing lights from ground floor, first floor and top floor in a multi-storey home.

Does this include the mounting frame?

No. The module clips into a Knightsbridge grid mounting frame, which is sold separately. Frames are available in 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang and larger configurations to hold multiple modules in a single faceplate.

What back box depth is required?

A 35mm minimum back box depth is required for safe installation. The module itself has an 18.7mm recessed depth and 7mm projection from the frame once fitted.

What other finishes are available?

Knightsbridge produces intermediate grid modules in a range of finishes including brushed chrome, matt black, white, polished brass and antique brass. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
