The Knightsbridge 20AX DP grid switch module is a single-gang switch unit designed to clip into modular grid systems, finished in brushed brass with an integrated LED indicator that shows the switching status. The 20AX rating allows it to control lighting circuits, heating loads and small appliances up to 4,600W at 230V, making it suitable for both domestic and light commercial installations.

Designed for use in grid plates where multiple switching functions are needed in a single faceplate, the module measures 24.8mm wide (one grid space) and clips onto the front of Knightsbridge grid mounting frames sold separately. Double pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the switch is off, providing safer isolation than single-pole switches for high-draw appliances and circuits where complete disconnection is preferred.

The brushed brass finish on the rocker gives a warm metallic accent that pairs well with traditional, classical and warm-toned contemporary interiors. The LED indicator sits within the rocker and glows when the circuit is live, providing visual confirmation of switching status without needing to check the connected appliance. The module requires a minimum 35mm mounting box depth behind the grid frame and carries an IP20 rating for indoor dry-location use.

What grid frame does this module fit?

The module fits standard Knightsbridge grid mounting frames sold separately. The 24.8mm width occupies one grid space, so a 2-gang grid frame holds two modules, a 3-gang frame holds three, and so on. The frame is fixed to the back box first, then modules clip onto the front.

What does the LED indicator show?

The LED glows when the circuit is live (switched on). This provides visual confirmation of switching status without needing to check the connected appliance or light. The indicator does not glow when the switch is in the off position.

What's the difference between 20AX and 10AX rated modules?

20AX modules are rated to switch up to 4,600W at 230V (20 amps), while 10AX modules handle up to 2,300W (10 amps). The 20AX rating suits higher-draw circuits such as multiple spotlights, fan heaters, or small kitchen appliances. For standard room lighting a 10AX module is typically sufficient.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the module is not protected against water ingress, so it is not suitable for wet zones in bathrooms. It can be installed in dry bathroom zones (Zone 3 or outside zones) where water spray is not expected, but must be kept away from showers, baths and basins.
