Description

The Knightsbridge 20AX DP grid module is a single-width switch unit designed to clip into Knightsbridge modular grid mounting frames. The module measures 24.8mm wide by 56.3mm tall, occupying one grid position in a standard grid plate system, and carries a 20AX double-pole rating suitable for lighting circuits, fan isolators and low-to-medium power appliance switching up to 4,600W at 230V.

Designed for grid installations where multiple switches, sockets and controls are grouped into a single faceplate, the module clips into the front of a separately-purchased grid mounting frame without requiring tools. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when turned off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for higher-draw circuits. The module requires a 35mm minimum back box depth behind the mounting frame.

The brushed chrome finish on the rocker provides a low-sheen metallic accent that pairs with both contemporary and traditional grid installations. The ABS body and steel contact mechanism give the module structural rigidity within the grid frame, and the IP20 rating makes it suitable for dry indoor locations including kitchens, utility rooms, home offices and commercial premises. Knightsbridge backs the module with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What is a grid module and how does it work?

A grid module is an individual switch, socket or control that clips into a separate mounting frame to create a custom multi-gang plate. You choose the modules you need (switches, sockets, dimmers, data ports) and fit them into a grid frame that matches the total module count. This module occupies one grid position and requires a Knightsbridge grid mounting frame sold separately.

What's the difference between 20AX and 10AX?

20AX modules are rated for higher-current circuits up to 4,600W at 230V, making them suitable for lighting circuits with multiple fittings, fan isolators and medium-draw appliances. 10AX modules handle up to 2,300W and are typically used for single lighting circuits. If you're switching multiple ceiling lights or a high-power bathroom fan, a 20AX module is the safer choice.

Can this be used with other brands' grid systems?

No. Knightsbridge grid modules are designed to clip into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames only. The clip mechanism, module width and electrical contacts are specific to the Knightsbridge system and will not fit frames from other manufacturers.

What back box depth is required?

The module itself has an 18.7mm recessed depth, but you need a 35mm minimum back box depth to accommodate the grid mounting frame plus the module. Shallow 25mm back boxes will not provide enough space for safe installation.
