20AX 2 Way SP Module Centre Off - Polished Chrome

The Knightsbridge 20AX 2-way SP module is a single-pole grid switch with centre-off positioning, rated at 20AX for circuits up to 4,600W on 230V mains. The module clips into the front of Knightsbridge modular mounting frames (sold separately) and provides a three-position rocker: up, centre-off, and down, allowing one switch to control two separate circuits or lighting zones.

Designed for custom grid installations in residential and commercial environments, the module suits applications where a single switch position needs to toggle between two independent loads without both being live simultaneously. Common uses include switching between two different lighting circuits in a hallway, controlling a fan and extractor independently from one grid position, or alternating between two sets of downlights in an open-plan room. The 35mm minimum back box depth requirement is standard for Knightsbridge grid systems.

What does 'centre off' mean?

Centre-off means the rocker has three positions: up, middle, and down. In the middle position, both circuits are off. Rocking up or down switches on one circuit or the other, but never both simultaneously. This is useful for controlling two separate lighting zones from one switch without overlap.

What mounting frame does it need?

The module clips into Knightsbridge modular grid frames, sold separately. A 2-module frame holds two modules, a 3-module frame holds three, and so on. The frame fixes to a 35mm minimum back box, then modules clip in from the front without additional screws.

What's the 20AX rating?

20AX is the current rating — 20 amps inductive load. On 230V mains this handles circuits up to 4,600W, suitable for high-draw lighting circuits, extractor fans, or multiple downlights on one zone.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means it is not protected against water ingress. It can be used in bathrooms only outside zones 0, 1, and 2 — typically this means at least 600mm from a bath or shower enclosure and not where it could be exposed to direct water spray.
