Description
The Knightsbridge 20AX 2-way SP module is a single-pole grid switch with a centre-off position, allowing control of two separate circuits from one rocker. Rated at 20AX on 230V 50Hz supply, the module handles lighting loads up to 4,600W, making it suitable for multi-circuit lighting control in homes, offices and commercial installations.
Designed for use with Knightsbridge Grid mounting frames (sold separately), the module clips into position from the front of the frame without requiring removal of the frame from the wall. This allows modules to be swapped, added or reconfigured without re-wiring the back box or disturbing adjacent modules in the same frame. The 2-way configuration supports switching from two locations, while the centre-off position breaks both circuits when the rocker is returned to neutral.
The module measures 24.8mm wide (approximately 1 grid width in Knightsbridge's modular system), 56.3mm tall and projects 7mm from the mounting frame once clipped in. The matt white ABS construction with steel terminals gives the module a 25-year warranty. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations only — bathrooms, outdoor locations and high-moisture environments require IP44 or higher rated components.

Frequently Asked
What is the centre-off position used for?
The centre-off position allows one rocker to control two separate circuits. Rocking up might control Circuit A (e.g. downlights), rocking down might control Circuit B (e.g. wall lights), and returning to centre switches both circuits off. This is useful in rooms where multiple lighting zones are controlled from one switch position.
Does this module require a specific mounting frame?
Yes. The module clips into Knightsbridge Grid mounting frames, which are sold separately in 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang and larger configurations. The frame is fixed to a standard back box, and modules then clip into the frame from the front.
What back box depth is needed?
A 35mm minimum back box depth is required. The module's recessed depth is 18.7mm, leaving sufficient room for cable terminations behind the module within a 35mm box.
Can this be used in bathrooms?
No. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations only. Bathrooms and other high-moisture areas require IP44 or higher rated switches positioned outside splash zones, or IP65+ rated switches for direct wet-area use.
